So, my newest fandom love is an anime series called, Bleach.
I thought I'd introduce some of you to it today. I will be giving away a bit of what happens in the first ep, to get you started, but only a little, promise!
Note: My spoiler policy for Bleach is that, as the series has been around since 2001, I'd feel pretty ridiculous asking not to be spoiled for the less current parts of the manga/anime. Also, I've already sorta spoiled myself as I've been watching the series, via the Bleach wikia, Wikipedia, and Google, so I don't think anyone has to worry too much about spoiling me. However, I know there will be those who'd like to remain unspoiled for the anime/manga. It is for those that I will do my best not to be too spoilerific in my post and that I request everyone reading my Bleach post to be aware there may be spoilers in the comments.

Bleach is the story of a young man name Ichigo Kurosaki. (Note: There are two versions of this story, manga (comic book) or anime (cartoon). I will be referencing the anime as I've not read any of the manga.)
This is Ichigo Kurosaki. Hi Ichigo!
Ichigo has that look on his face because he is a 15 year-old boy who can see ghost and they sometimes confuse, aggravate, and annoy him. You don't see it but there's a ghost around him during this scene.
Ichigo lives in a town called Karakura with his father, Isshin, and his twin sisters, Yuza and Karin. Tragically, Ichigo's mother died six years earlier.
I have to take a moment to say, Isshin Kurosaki, loves his children very much but he has certain "ideas" on raising them. Actually, on raising Ichigo, since he's the 'boy'. For example, see the pic below:
No, this is not Isshin doing some weird pre-meal dance. This is him launching a 'sneak' attack on Ichigo during their dinner.
See, Isshin believes it is his duty as a father to teach Ichigo to defend himself and he has done this basically by stealth attacking Ichigo whenever he gets a chance. Including while eating supper, entering and leaving the house, or getting him out of bed in the morning. Isshin also says some of the most
inappropriate things and I spend lots of times when he's on the screen torn between making this "O.o" face and,
at the same time, LMAO at him for what he says/does. At times I can't believe he's a doctor...I just tell myself he so can't say the same things to his patients, that he says to his kids and their friends, but I don't quite believe myself.
That is Yuza and Karin sitting down acting as if nothing is happening. I figure after years of seeing this it's all old hat to them.
Now, I mentioned above that Ichigo sees ghost, well this story really begins when he wakes up one night and sees what he thinks is the ghost of a teenage girl with a sword in his room.
This is the 'girl' her name is Rukia Kuchiki. She is so not a teenage girl and she is not a ghost. Hi Rukia!
Rukia is what is known as a Soul Reaper, which are spirits that see earthbound spirits on to where ever they go to when they die. Their main job, tho, is to fight Hollows. Hollows are spirits that eat other spirits. There is a more complex explanation given for Hollows in the series but, if I tried to give it, I'd either confuse you or give away plot.
This is a Hollow. They really creep me out.
So, Rukia shows up in Ichigo's room and, through things that happen in the first ep, that you'll have to watch to find out (subtle ain't I?), Ichigo gets Rukia's Soul Reaper powers. The rest of what follows is how they deal with that power exchange.
