April is National Poetry month in the US and last year I posted a poem a day in honor of it. I loved it so much and I'm happy to be able to do it again!
As today is also April Fool's Day in the US, and I have no talent in fooling people, I thought I'd start us off with a poem I learned in kindergarden and still makes me smile to this day when I say or read it. Enjoy!
Ladies and Jellyspoons (I really have NO idea who the author of this is, sorry!)
Ladies and Jellyspoons,
I come before you to stand behind you
to tell you something I know nothing about.
Next Thursday, the day after Friday,
there will be a ladies meeting for men only.
If you can come, please stay at home.
Wear your best clothes, if you haven't any.
Admission is free, you can pay at the door.
We'll give you a seat, so you can sit on the floor.
